The record begins with Double61 winning the 16-player Galaxies Championship in September 2020. It runs through AUR Huanmie's completed Space Gods Tactician's Crown victory in July 2026. The table below contains only completed global championships; no scheduled event is assigned a winner.

Open-bracket institution
The Opens are not additional world championships. They are large international open-bracket events with their own winners, fields, and community-festival role.
First large open-bracket TFT Open
Second Open; >1,000 spectators reported by Riot
Open expanded; Huanmie later won Space Gods Crown
Announced future event
2026-12-11–2026-12-13 · 1,024 announced competitors · $311,300 total / $100,000 winner
Scheduled future event on Set 19 at cutoff Its winner remains unassigned because the event had not occurred at the research cutoff.
Institutional change
The global final expanded, the Tactician's Crown replaced the old championship name, the qualification system became pan-regional, and a recurring Tier 1 circuit joined set-specific qualification.
512-player open LAN
Creates a large international open-bracket institution separate from the world final.
Regional consolidation and global qualification redesign
Riot rebuilds qualification and expands worldwide prize support.
Consistency-based elite circuit
Adds recurring top-level competition beyond one qualification run.
TFT competition began through ladder play, creator events, regional tournaments and League-adjacent broadcasts. The 2019 All-Star event included TFT personalities and matches, but TFT did not yet have a mature independent international circuit.
The Galaxies Championship in September 2020 was the first official global championship. Sixteen players qualified through eight regional finals and competed for $200,000. COVID-19 forced remote participation. TFT-S073TFT-S074
The checkmate-style final—reach a points threshold and then win a lobby—became an important TFT tournament format because it combines consistency with a decisive final victory.
The championship grew from sixteen players in Galaxies to twenty-four in Fates, twenty in Reckoning and thirty-two by Gizmos & Gadgets. Later Tactician’s Crown events expanded to forty.
The champions tell a geographically broad story:
Comparisons require care. Field sizes, formats, regional seed allocations, remote conditions and prize structures changed. A “most difficult championship” ranking would need a defined methodology rather than intuition.
During Inkborn Fables, Riot renamed the world championship the Tactician’s Crown and reorganized competition around pan-regional systems. TFT-S085TFT-S097
The changes sought clearer paths from ladder and regional tournaments to a global final. Riot also increased the worldwide competitive prize pool and later introduced a Tier 1 Pro Circuit to reward recurring top performance. TFT-S097TFT-S098
TFT esports differs from team-based Riot esports. Players compete individually, patches and sets turn over rapidly, and the entire competitive game can be replaced every four months. The circuit must qualify players quickly enough for a set that will soon end.
This time pressure is one reason set championships are tied so closely to product transitions. The final often reveals the next set immediately after crowning a champion.
The TFT Open created a second international institution.
The 2023 Vegas Open used a 512-player open bracket and was won by milala. The 2024 Macao Open retained 512 competitors and was won by Shiquz. The 2025 Paris Open expanded to 768 and was won by Huanmie. TFT-S094TFT-S095TFT-S096
The planned 2026 Vegas Open expands the field to 1,024 players and a $311,300 total prize pool, with $100,000 for the winner. It is scheduled for December 11–13 and is intended to use Set 19. TFT-S062
Open events are valuable because they combine competition and community festival. They reduce one barrier—regional qualification—but replace it with others, including travel, ticket cost and limited capacity.
At the cutoff, Vegas 2026 is future history. Its winner, attendance and final format cannot be populated in advance.
Comparison warning
A 16-player remote championship and a 40-player Tactician's Crown occurred under different formats, regional allocations, patches, and competitive systems. This archive reports the results and conditions it can verify; it does not turn them into an unsupported all-time player ranking.
